Chief Planning officer as a Planning Advisor to the District is
involved with the timely formulation and implementation of developmental plan of the
District as per aspirations of the people ensuring balanced development of all areas.
Further inter-departmental coordination involved with the developmental process and the
Chief Planning Officer is doing constant monitoring of all developmental activities.
Besides coordinating formulation of Action Plan in respect of State/Centrally Schemes such
as EAS, SGSY, JGSY, IAY, RHS, PMRY, SSES, BADP and TSP etc. is being done by the Chief
Planning Officer in tune with the Govt. policies.
Assistant Commissioner Development has been entrusted with the
implementation of various state/ centrally sponsored schemes such as, EAS, SGSY, IAY, RHS,
etc with the main objective to create avenues of employment in the rural areas and also to
create community assets for the people living in 16 CD blocks/ 276 Panchayat Halqas. For

3. Flood Control
Under this programme a part from training major flood causing nallahs
in the district focus is on the river jehlum whose flood causing capacity has been
substantially contained by way of works on out fall channel from Pohru nallah to
Khadniyar.
The District enjoying the privilege of having major Power Houses
installed namely Lower Jehlum Hydro Electric Power Project with install capacity of 105
MWS and Uri Hydro Electric Power Project under central sector having installed capacity of
480 MWS. Two more projects namely Kishan Ganga Hydro Electric Power Project and Uri 2nd
Hydle Power Project are in the offing. Though 100% villages stands electrified measures
are on to improve and stabilize the power supply through various REC approved
schemes. Superintending Engineer EM&RE is being assisted by Executive Engineer
Electric Division Baramulla/Sopore/Sumbal and Executive Engineer Sub Transmission Division
Sopore.

Programme Officer ICDS is coordinating for implementation of Integrated
Child Development Scheme in 14 ICDS projects having 1075 Anganwadi Centres, 52250
beneficiaries are viz children of 6 months to 6 years age, and
pregnant/nursing mothers are being benefited under the programme. The main aims is to
improve the nutritional status of the targeted groups and to ensure their proper physical
and educational status with a view to reduce the incidence of mortalities and to
enhance the capability of mothers to deliver and look after their children.
Besides, aforementioned department, Handicrafts, Handlooms,
Sericulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, Co-operative
Departments are engaged in various developmental/service
activities to improve the lot of of the people related with their departmental activities.

Fruit Industry occupies most important position in the economy of the
district where almost 80% of the population is directly or indirectly
involved with Horticulture
activities. Chief Horticulture officer plays vital role in enhancing production of fresh
fruits especially apple and its export to other terminal markets of the country. To

Policy into reality. He is been empowered to register SSI units and to facilitate
financing of registered units through various financial institutions. Various incentives

Prime Ministers Rozgar Yojna is being implemented by DIC for educated

Self Employment Scheme having better incentives like interest subsidy/margin money etc.

A brief description of the department and its activities:
NIC Baramulla has introduced and spread the Informatics culture in
District Baramulla of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. It has spread the Computer awareness
among the employees in State and central Govt. Departments. It has also uplifted and
